In 1981, the business was operated as Bear Hills Engine Rebuilders. It originated from the Business Acquisition of Oil King in 1988, and then operated as Maskepetoon Automotive in 1991. Maskepetoon Automotive is named after a former chief of the Samson Cree Nation. In 1996, the business was transferred under Samson Management Ltd, and employs seven (7) people from the local communities.
Maskepetoon Automotive is open from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and provides general automotive repairs, parts, tires, tire repairs, alignment, oil & lube. It is an approved government inspection facility to inspect school buses and commercial vehicles, motor vehicle and out-of-province inspections. They are regulated under the Alberta Business Corporations Act and Alberta Transtrue Vehicle Safety.

The Okeymowkisik Gas Bar was built in 1994 and opened for business in February 1995. It is open 365 days a year. Its hours of operation are from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. We are a full service convenience store offering fuel, tobacco and confectionary sales. We employ approximately 25 people from the local communities and we offer on the job training for all positions. We are conveniently located off Highway 2A and Highway 611 East, at the Samson Community Mall. We are regulated by the Alberta Business Corporations Act, Alberta Tobacco & Fuel Act, Alberta Indian Tax Exemption Act, Alberta Liquor & Gaming Act, and federally by the Tobacco Act. |

Roots & Berries opened for business on May 3 1995. It provides pharmaceutical, giftware and confectionary services to the people in the Hobbema area. In 1996, the business was included in the Opt 500 business start in Canada. It is located in the Maskwachis Health Centre (formerly the Hobbema Indian Health Services Building) just off Highway 2A.
Roots & Berries was newly renovated in April 2009. The hours of operation are from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The business has 5 full time employees. We are regulated and governed under the Alberta Pharmaceutical Association and the College of Pharmacists. |
